Glaucoma for the General Ophthalmologist

The Glauc-Go Course has been designed for eye specialists practicing general or comprehensive ophthalmology, in private or institutional practices, who are keen to update their understanding, knowledge, improve skills on glaucoma diagnosis and initiating medical therapy. The course is easily accessible online from the comfort of your clinics, offices or homes. The course content has been sub-divided into 3 modules with a short online quiz to allow participants to consolidate what they have learnt. The course aims to cover important topics such as distinguishing glaucoma from non-glaucoma presentations to help one confidently make the initial diagnosis and to ascertain the appropriate first line of therapy. Contemporary surgical options (including laser therapy) and pearls in the care of patients with low vision will be amongst the topics covered.

  • ‘Monitoring of glaucoma’ will be covered in week 1, where topics also include:

  • Indicate the progression of glaucoma and learn how to monitor the disease
  • Identify the concept of rapid progressors
  • ‘Management of glaucoma’ will be covered in week 2, where topics also include:
  • Glaucoma surgery (including MIGS, trabeculectomy, tube)
  • What’s on the horizon
  • At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
  • Identify the common forms of glaucoma surgery
  • ‘Low vision therapy for patients with glaucoma’ will be covered in week 3, where topics also include:
  • What is Low Vision?
  • Aspects of vision and function
  • At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
  • Explain the definition of low vision
  • Learn the functional impacts of low vision
  • Identify the goals of vision rehabilitation and its role in ophthalmic practice
  • Integrate low vision care into glaucoma management
  • An online assessment will be conducted in week 4 of the course.
