Start learning Turkish vowel harmony, case suffixes, personal endings, the continuous tense, possessive noun compounds and much more today. Instead of circling around the same point and making each personal ending a topic, providing not much in terms of content, this course actually offers the full A1 in its entirety, making good use of your time. You get value and a course packed full of content, because this is what I would want from a language course myself, as an experienced Turkish teacher and a learner of other languages. Turkish for Busy People is the result of many years of teaching experience and seeing the progress of students and where they struggle and what they struggle with. I designed it especially to make those points very clear, with actual feedback from my students over all these years.Let's take your enthusiasm and turn it into Turkish skills.

Most lessons will have vocabulary before the lesson. Practice the vocabulary before moving onto the lesson.
There is basic vocabulary attached as downloadable materials in this lecture. While not necessary for the following lesson itself, it will be useful in general.
In this lecture you willget introduced to basic vowel harmony through forming plurals. You will also be making basic statements and learn the most basic Turkish sentence structure.
You will be able to make statements such as "Bu bir sokak.", "Onlar turistler." to describe what is what.
Practice the vocabulary before moving on to the new subject.
We are taking our vowel harmony knowledge to the next level and learning to use the locative case suffix "-de".
You will be able to make sentences such as "Burada bir durak var." and "Park bu sokakta." to talk about existence and locations of things.
In this lesson, we are adding more to our knowledge of vowel harmony through the use of "mi" as a question particle to ask yes / no questions as in "Burası restoran mı?"
You will also learn to negate nouns and adjectives using "değil" as in "Burası restoran değil".
In this lecture, we will be coupling our knowledge with personal endings for the first time to make it clear who we are talking about, to say for example: "Ben turist değilim."
*Check out the note at the end of the "case suffixes" cheat sheet attached to lecture 13 for voice changes.
You will hear a text about Kapadokya. You will hear it at slow speed first and then later at natural speed. The exercise has four parts.
Part 1 - Slow speed: Listen carefully and pay attention to the bits that you don't understand.
Part 2 - Slow speed with transcript: Listen carefully and note down the bits you didn't understand before, noticing which structures are easy and difficult for you to hear.
Part 3 - Slow speed with English: Pause the video where you find it difficult to understand the meaning. Take an extra moment to make a guess about the meaning before hearing the English translation. Guessing is an important part of learning a language. We need to develop this skill to fill in the gaps. When guessing, take what words you are able to understand and make sense of it. After hearing the translation, compare it to your guess.
Part 4 - Normal speed with transcript: Put your comprehension to the test and see if you can understand everything at normal speed. Rewind this bit to listen to it again, this time not looking at the text.
In this lecture we are going to dive into verbs and conjugate them into the continuous tense to talk about general things, near future and the present time.
Our prior knowledge of vowel harmony, personal endings and the question particle will come in to play. We will combine these to say "Bugün işe gidiyorum."
Here we will also get introduced to other case suffixes such as the accusative "-i", directional "-e" and ablative "-den".
We will look at question words and learn to ask questions.
*Check out the "case suffixes" cheat sheet attached to lecture 18 for voice changes. Refer back to harmony recaps if necessary. Feel free to drop me a question too.
In this lesson we will learn to use the infinitive form by combining it with the verb "istemek" to talk about what you (and others) want to do such as in the example "Bugün parka gitmek istiyorum."
We will put this to use by pairing it with "çünkü" as "because" and learn to say "Türkçe öğreniyorum çünkü Türkiye'de yaşamak istiyorum."
We will add a bit more on top of this and use "ama" as "but", which will give us more practice with verb negation as in the sentences "Türkiye'de yaşıyorum ama Türkçe konuşmuyorum."
In this lecture we will be practicing using the accusative "-i" suffix to mark the object of a sentence.
"Bu filmi biliyor musun?"
You will learn to tell the time as well as talk about time of event as in "Saat yediye çeyrek var" and "Bugün ders yediye çeyrek kala başlıyor."
Use the words "önce" and "sonra" with "-den" for nouns and adjectives to present a sequence of events as in "Akşam dersten sonra eve gidiyoruz."
Use "önce" and "sonra" with verbs as in "Dışarı çıkmadan önce yemek yiyoruz." and "Ders bittikten sonra eve dönüyoruz."
Use "-dir" and "-den beri" to talk about durations of events as in "Ben üç aydır Türkçe öğreniyorum." and "Geçen haftadan beri çok çalışıyorum."
You will hear a text about a shop. Just like in the previous one, you will hear it at slow speed first and then later at natural speed.

In this lecture you will learn to form noun compounds using the genitive and possessive suffixes to say "Bu benim ailem".
We will use our knowledge of noun compounds to talk about where things are in relation to other things by using direction and location words such as in "Benim evim parkın yanında."
We will utilise case suffixes and noun compounds in sentences to give comparative and superlative descriptions as in "İstanbul Ankara'dan daha kalabalık." and "Türkiye'nin en kalabalık şehri İstanbul."
We will use the instrumental "ile" and its contracted form to talk about instruments and who and what we are performing actions with as in "Yarın Tuğçe'yle dışarıda yemek yiyoruz."
We are diving deep into the use of buffer sounds and the accusative case suffix. Noun compounds can behave differently with case suffixes. We will focus this lesson on the practice of combining this case suffix with noun compounds to describe actions that use objects such as in "Senin telefonunu bilmiyorum."
We will ask why and give reasons using "için" to talk about intentions. We will also use "için" to talk about what things are for as in "Dinlenmek için müzik dinliyorum."
