If you are new to Amazon FBA, let me describe in summary what we mean by an Amazon FBA business.  This summarises the steps you need to take and the overall structure of the business you are going to create!

This video considers the strategic business background to the business you are going to build on Amazon. Before we start I would like to explain why Amazon and Amazon FBA in particular is such an amazing market place where, if you work hard, you can make money. I explain the major benefits of using the Fullfilled By Amazon - FBA - service and set out some key criteria for the sort of business we are helping you to design using Amazon FBA.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

Before we get started, I want to challenge your mindset about selling on Amazon. You need to be considering how you are going to stand out from the crowd, serve your customers and differentiate yourself, other than on price. These six questions are intended to challenge your mindset at the outset!

This video focuses on the important point that you need to identify your customer - to do this you need to identify a niche to build your business in and then learn who the ideal customers are in this market. Be prepared to do your homework before you start and once you have identified your niche, find the authority product review sites and bloggers in this niche

To start with you need to see what they are saying about the products and customer but later you are going to want to contact them and even partner with them to sell your products.

Personal welcome message by Instructor Sergey to the Amazon FBA course

This lecture introduces this Product Characteristics chapter in which we introduce you to the range of variables and factors you need to take into consideration when deciding what to sell on Amazon FBA.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

This video covers the characteristics of the product you are going to sell and those that you want to avoid. The idea is to eliminate risk, problems and pitfalls from the outset. It will make it much easier to eliminate products that do not fit your criteria before you start doing your detailed research

In Summary;

  • Size Matters; keep it small and light and avoid delicate products
  • Keep your Products Generic - you are going to white label your own products later
  • Sales Pricing Matters - sell things within a range of $5 to $40 to start with.
  • Avoid fads and novelties
  • Find products which minimise your potential liabilities
  • Simple products with no moving parts are better
  • Make sure your products are of the highest quality - this will mean getting samples from manufacturers to satisfy yourself that the quality is right
  • Consumable products which people use and need to replace thats great but avoid anything with a limited shelf life
  • What are you passionate about - find products that people will buy with emotion and passion or which are everyday necessities which are going to make your customers' lives easier

This is a really important area and you need to keep the criteria firmly in mind when you make your product selection

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

This lecture considers product selection criteria which apply to both Amazon and more broadly to ecommerce products and by explaining them, help you to understand some of the main criteria you need to apply to your product selection.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

Here we introduce the Products Characteristics Checklist, a tool which you are going to be able to make use of as you progress through the course. This video explains the contents of the Checklist and why some of the variables are important to record.

You can find a PDF and a Spreadsheet of the Checklist attached in the Additional Materials Section of this lecture.

Before moving on, we take a brief look at what you have covered in this Chapter of the Course.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

In this Chapter of the Course we show you how to select products which have already been prioritised as best sellers and products with significant sales potential from the millions of products that are available on Amazon.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

Our starting point is the Best Seller lists as this is one of our major selection criteria. We can see if we just take a look at the Best Seller List that immediately we can glean some essential information.

We can see all the top level categories in Amazon, although they all have sub-categories and sub-sub categories below them.

We can see which items are at the top of the best seller list for any particular category - this changes regularly so you need to watch this carefully.

We can see how many reviews each product has - another key part of the selection criteria as this is a major competitive element selling on Amazon.

If we look at more detail in the listing itself, we can identify:

  • the price
  • the product summary
  • the number of images
  • the ASIN number
  • information about the product's size and weight

This is all important information in our product selection criteria.

This short lecture introduces a great resource which you can use for free to help you to identify product ideas which are selling like hotcakes on eBay.

If you are still struggling to find a product, here are a wealth of resources for you to explore for inspiration. From Trending Sites to Social Curation sites, go out and see what is exciting people in the market. Can you fulfill that unsatisfied demand?

This lecture summarises what we have covered in this Product Prioritisation Chapter.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

This Chapter focuses on the detail of how to select products to sell on Amazon FBA. We take you through a step by step, very hands on, process to show you what you need to do to select your Amazon FBA product.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

This is the first stage of our search for an appropriate product. It is easier to start by eliminating all the major departments which we want to avoid and I show you how to do this.

Next I show you how to take a look at the major categories in each department and select a few which particularly interest you while parking the remainder for the time being - you can always return to them at a later stage.

I then demonstrate to you that even though you are now going to look only at the best sellers in some of these categories, there are still tens of thousands of products for you to consider. Far more in fact than you could ever handle

Finally, I want to remind you of the major criteria on which we are basing our screening process before we dive in.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

In this video I want to remind you of the key criteria we identified earlier in the course and to help you by making an initial purge of some Amazon categories which I believe you need to avoid. I provide you with the short list which comprises:

  • Automotive
  • Beauty
  • Cell Phones & Accessories
  • Electronics
  • Health & Personal Care
  • Home & Kitchen
  • Home Improvement
  • Industrial & Scientific
  • Kitchen & Dining
  • Musical Instruments
  • Patio, Lawn & Garden
  • Pet Supplies
  • Sports & Outdoors
  • Toys & Games

This is only an initial screening.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

In this lecture I actually walk you through a category screening exercise so that you can understand how to look at potential products and take a view as to whether they might be suitable for your business.

This lecture shows you how to review best seller categories in Amazon and select products which you might consider selling in due course. It is important to know what to avoid as much as it is knowing what to choose. Taking a close look at reviews is also important so that you get a feel for how well the product is doing in Amazon.

This lecture explains the importance of two critical metrics which Amazon provides you with and which you need to understand when choosing your product: Best Seller Ranking and Number of Reviews

I will share with you how to interpret these numbers so that you understand what they mean in terms of the attractiveness of a potential product (Best Seller Ranking) and the competitive threat a product might pose for you (Number of Reviews).

This lecture is focused on examining the components of a competitors listing to evaluate how competitive they might be against us and at the same time learning the strengths and weaknesses they may have.

Amazon listings are a critical success factor and you really need to understand how to put them together. This early look at them will prepare you for when you need to compose your own first listing.

This lecture also acts as an introduction to my Amazon FBA Scorecard about which you will learn more in the next lecture.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

This is a scorecard I have devised to enable you to objectively assess an Amazon listing, including your own. By following the simple inputs which I explain in the video, you can quickly assess the quality of the listing in a very objective fashion.

You can also find a zipped copy of the spreadsheet in the Additional Resources section of this lecture. The spreadsheet contains a Master Template and two worked examples.

Any Amazon Best Seller list is out of date 30 minutes after it is created.

Here is a way to use my data of Amazon Best Sellers (over 48,000 product listings) to screen and short list some products you might wish to consider selling.

There are three steps to the process which is designed to help you over come the overwhelm of trying to select from tens of thousands of products.

Follow the instructions in the lecture and good luck!

A PDF of the Slide Deck is available to download from the Resources Section of this lecture.

This datafile contains details of 2,360 products from the Profit Spotlight Data from July 2014 which you can research using filters in Excel

The date of this spreadsheet is irrelevant.  What it shows you are potential products that you can target to sell in Amazon yourself.  The data is presented in a concise easy to review format rather that clicking through pages of Amazon listings.

If they were best sellers in 2014 and still are today, then the longevity is positive, if they are no longer best sellers then that tells you to avoid them and be sceptical about similar products.  Use the lessons of time to your advantage.

I want to share with you some software tools and Chrome Extensions which will help you in your product research.  Some of these have free versions or trials which you can take advantage of.  I am not selling these nor recommending a specific product.  You should be aware that these are available and its worth researching to see whether you think you can make use of them

Its a way to get right up to date data for the products you are researching.

This lecture is an introduction to the sourcing process and explains many of the key issues involved in the sourcing process including the questions you are going to have to ask your potential suppliers and what you will have to do in order to end up with a product ready to sell in the Amazon Market place.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

Before you start looking on websites for suppliers, make sure you do your homework on all the details of the product. You do this by looking at some competitors listings. As well as identifying features and benefits read through the reviews to look for details which customers are either complaining about or asking for. This will be a source of considerable inspiration!

This lecture shows in practice how you can identify sources of products and obtain the best price for the products that you want to resell in Amazon. We highlight the importance of going directly to the manufacturers or wholesalers involved and why you should make sure that you get a sample before you place an order.

In this lecture I share 9 different wholesale directories where you can find potential suppliers and source products. I have provided a downloadable PDF in the Additional Resources section of this lecture so that you can easily access the website links.

This lecture is focused on Alibaba but much of its content relates to all the other sites too. You need to be rigourous with your supplier screening to reduce the risk of fraud, of paying too much or of simply ending up with a second rate supplier. This lecture takes you through this process and gives you a checklist of actions you can take to rigourously screen your potential suppliers.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

Here we show you how to go into Alibaba and identify potential products to source to sell on Amazon and how to avoid some of the pitfalls that you might encounter. We also show you Aliexpress as an alternative source of products.

This video shows you how Sergey screens potential products and demonstrates the pros and cons of different products and he explains why he likes some and dislikes others.

In this lecture we show you how to arbitrage offer prices and seasonality in order to buy items inexpensively and then resell them later for a substantial profit. This requires a little research and patience, but ultimately can be very rewarding.

Here we show you a great way to get authentic Apple products which you can resell on Amazon at a profit. The margins are lower but the quality of the merchandise is assured. We show you how simple this can be and which products to avoid.

Here is a really smart way to find products which you can resell at a profit. Sergey explains the reasons behind some of his choices and helps you to look at potential products objectively.

Here is another source of great products which you can resell on Amazon. The real trick here is to know where these sites are and how to chose which products to purchase and resell!. Sergey also has a real neat tip to save more money when buying from Amazon.

I recommend that you communicate by email rather than phone as this creates a paper trail and is less likely to lead to any misunderstandings. In this lecture I take you through the initial email you need to send to your potential supplier and the key questions you need to ask.

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

Here we offer practical advice on how to approach companies directly. You need to be transparent about the fact that you want to sell on Amazon as the company you approach may be selling on Amazon already.

Here we share more ideas for sourcing great products at low prices which you can then resell. It is important that you keep your eyes open for opportunities to source products and not become too dependent on one supplier.

If you are considering selling food through Amazon, this video gives you advice on how to find suitable products and why they are sellable on Amazon. The downside is that they don't sell and you eat them :)

Testing the market is important to your long term success. A bit of extra work at the start but in the end you will benefit a lot more by having a product that actually sells well and you do not waste money on investing in the wrong product.

Lets take a time out - I would love to get your feedback on the course - start a discussion or message me.

This would also be a great time for you to help out other students by telling them what you think about the course - why not leave a rating and review now? You can always go back and edit it at any time later if you wish.

There are three distinct phases to growing a successful business on Amazon and these have to be done in the right order once the success objectives for each phase have been achieved

This lecture contains a PDF of the Slide Deck with is available for you in the additional resources section to down load to assist you with your study.

In this first phase you are working hard to establish your business as the market leader for your niche product. Your aim is to get onto the first page of Amazon for your product organically and you do this by establishing regular sales and by getting positive reviews from your customers

Once your Amazon business is established, you can move onto Phase 2 in which you launch a second, related product so that you benefit from cross selling, something that Amazon is very good at.
