In this course you'll learn to sculpt X-Men's Wolverine from the ground up.  I'll be covering why I make certain artistic decisions as we move towards creating his body, attitude and dynamic pose. I try to include every aspect of my art process in this tutorial, so you'll have a full understanding of thought process throughout, including having to fix mistakes and troubleshoot along the way.  This isn’t just a technical 3D course, it’s a complete art class.

  • We’ll block everything out from primitives as usual, and continue to build up his muscular frame

  • We’ll use hierarchy to pose him

  • Create his iconic mask and adamantium claws,

  • We’ll paint his yellow and blue suit and utilize dynamic topology to really get clean crisp lines

  • And of course i’ll go through every little detail, and use creative license as well. As should you

After this class you’ll be able to create any X-men or other character you want. You can 3D print your Nomad sculpts too.   You can also export from Nomad to other applications like Blender for more advanced lighting and materials.

If you’re ready to learn, i’m looking forward to showing you everything I know.

Keep drawing, keep sculpting, and I look forward to seeing you in class.

Nomad sculpt character creation: wolverine

According to learners, this course provides a positive and detailed walkthrough of sculpting a full character, Wolverine, using Nomad Sculpt. Students particularly appreciated the instructor's approach to building muscle structures and explaining the artistic process, including troubleshooting common issues. The sections on posing using hierarchy and applying painting and details were highlighted as strong points. While the course covers many aspects from blocking to fine detailing, some reviewers felt the title "advanced" might be misleading, suggesting it's better suited for intermediate users or requires supplementary anatomy study. Overall, it's considered a solid, project-based tutorial.
Tutorial centered on one character.
"The project-based approach (sculpting Wolverine) is engaging, but limits applicability if you're not interested in this specific character style."
"Great if you want to sculpt Wolverine, but you'll need to adapt the skills significantly for other character types."
"A fun character to sculpt, but the techniques are very tailored to this specific model."
Good coverage of coloring and details.
"Painting and coloring sections were surprisingly detailed and covered important techniques for getting crisp lines and depth."
"Learning how to use dynamic topology for clean lines on the suit was a highlight."
"The final detailing pass module was very informative on bringing the character to life."
Instructor shares creative thought process.
"The focus on artistic decisions and thought process elevates this from a purely technical tutorial to an art class."
"Watching the instructor troubleshoot mistakes in real-time was incredibly valuable and relatable."
"I appreciate the explanations behind *why* certain artistic choices were made throughout the sculpt."
Shows how to pose complex characters.
"Posing with hierarchy was explained clearly and made a complex task manageable for me."
"The section on posing the character using hierarchy was incredibly useful and easy to replicate."
"Getting that dynamic pose right was much easier thanks to the detailed posing module."
Teaches building muscle groups effectively.
"The instructor's approach to building the muscle groups from primitives was fantastic and easy to follow, really helped me understand."
"Building the muscular frame step-by-step was very clear."
"I learned a lot about sculpting dynamic muscles using the techniques shown."
Requires external anatomy study.
"Anatomy explanation is basic; you'll need external resources if you want true anatomical accuracy beyond the stylized character."
"The muscle section is good for blocking but doesn't delve deeply into anatomical details."
"Wish there was a bit more theory on anatomy alongside the practical sculpting steps."
May be better for intermediate users.
"While labeled "advanced", it feels more like a solid intermediate course. Some steps assume prior Nomad Sculpt knowledge."
"As an intermediate user, I found this challenging but manageable. True beginners might struggle."
"I would recommend having a good grasp of Nomad Sculpt basics before diving into this course; it moves fairly quickly in parts."
