What people are saying
it automation
I feel like I understand the theoretical application of IT automation although I did not fully grasp the practical very well.
IT Automation will keep you engaged and learning best practices with tools like ruby, git, github, editors (nano), chef , prometheus ... not scary, it is a challenge and a good learning expereince.
Also, course name is confusing: it's not about IT automation principles or scripting – it's about memorizing Ruby and Git specific syntax.
Its nice course, I learned lot of things from this course which will help me to advance my skills and guides to do automation Is all clear that IT automation is terrifying scary!
So happy to clear this course!IT automation: It was SCARY!!
Good exposure to IT automation.
The last 3 sections I think would be more applicable to "IT Automation" for monitoring systems and why it is important.
[hint: bring IT Automation back to life!
]Hats off to Google's fun+mental team for "deep diving" into rock solid 7 weeks of IT Automation: It's not that scary!

first three weeks
It tries to cram an entire college-level Intro to CS course into the first three weeks so that it can apply this knowledge in the second half; considering that students were just taught what files and folders were a few modules back, this may be too ambitious.
first three weeks need to be more stretched out with more hands on questions to practice.
During the first three weeks there were issues with the labs, and the quizzes even were buggy.

very helpful
very helpful, learn some coding and the instructor is genius.
Block-scheme style exercises with basic elements "IF-ELSE", "WHILE" and variables would be very helpful.
I found it very helpful.

third week
There needs to be more instruction on the third week or a different design around the lab.
they give you 2 weeks of simple Ruby syntax and then tell you by the third week lab that you have to "rewrite" and "fix" their actual code.

no longer
Week 4 - 6 and the final project felt very easy in comparison as you no longer continue programming after week 3.
While no longer required for the Google IT Support Professional certification, the material covered will make one's life as an IT Support person or System Administrator much easier.

will help
I honestly feel that it will help cement my career working in IT.
A good exposition for the tools that go into (scalable) IT infrastructuresAnd more..This is the worse course on Coursera you will complete your rest of life trying to pass the labs of this course because not working and all students stuck in these labs and the instructor not qualified and it impossible to understand him and no one will help you.And this course don't deserve even 1 star if you don't believe me just enroll to this course and watch how much the content of this course is awful and read the posts of students on discussion forums especially week 3.Super frustrating.
it support
