The act of looking inward and learning more about oneself is called introspection. Kain shows how you can benefit from constructive self-reflection by using a model he describes in this video. The act of self-examination involves the deliberate consideration of your own character and actions, including assessing whether or not you are presenting yourself according to your priorities and values; and thinking about how you would expect others to behave around you.

Self-reflection involves paying attention to and understanding your own thoughts, emotions, decisions, and behaviors. Reflecting on yourself is a hard task that requires effort for you to uncover what is "true.". Throughout this video, Kain asks a few questions to guide you in considering everything you have learned thus far in the course.

In order for an individual to develop personally and to have a chance of sustained growth and well-being, there are some principles that must be adhered to in order to accomplish what is being sought. Self-empowerment and self-realization involve a process that involves thoughtful reflection and an understanding of the human condition. This training course is designed to provide you with this knowledge. Welcome to the Confidence, Assertiveness and Emotional Intelligence Masterclass!

In simplest terms, your mindset is a set of ideas and beliefs that determine your way of thinking. And your thought habits influence the way you think, the way you feel, and the way you act. As you make sense of the world and as you make sense of yourself, your mindset plays an important role. This video tells the story of two brothers who suffered life-changing injuries in the service of their country. In this lesson we will explore why developing a healthy mindset is so essential.

The attitude you adopt, as well as how you view yourself as a whole, will affect how confident and assertive you are. Throughout this teaching, Kain describes how changing your attitude can profoundly alter the direction of your life. Although you cannot control what happens to you in your life, you can always choose how you respond to it. A person's attitude is reflected by the way they respond. By modifying your attitude, you will also alter your perspective and change your life.

In order for us to grow and develop, we must have a vision of who we can become. In this video, Kain discusses how we can develop authentic confidence as we grow, while also illustrating how we can understand the characteristics of authentic confidence. All areas of your life can benefit from personal growth. Experiences that can help us experience new and unique things - or learn new ideas - are the most powerful ones for our growth. This course might be one of those experiences.

A person's awareness of their physical and mental experiences is known as consciousness. It is possible to experience different levels of consciousness, and there are various factors that can alter these levels of awareness. It is likely that you already know there are different levels of awareness. Multiple factors may influence human consciousness at different levels and may interfere with these states of awareness. Throughout this video, Kain illustrates the four levels of consciousness.

In simple terms, confidence is knowing that a hypothesis or prediction is true or that the chosen course of action is the most effective. A person who is confident comes from a Latin verb, fidere, which means "to trust"; therefore, being confident means trusting oneself.

There is no doubt that confidence is an attribute every individual would like to possess. Having a positive self-esteem is achieved by making peace with oneself, by accepting one's body, mind, and by believing in one's abilities, skills, and experience. Kain outlines the eight different kinds of confidence in this video in order to help us understand the only 'kind' of confidence that's important to pursue.

People are capable of far more than they accomplish, and often fail to realize their full potential. By becoming more adept at recognizing the obstacles to our personal growth, we will be better able to avoid self-defeating attitudes and behaviors. Throughout this video, Kain discusses seven roadblocks to personal growth, including learned helplessness, knowledge without context, unidentified opportunities, a lack of vocabulary, a state of comparison, a destiny attitude, and a negative motivation. Discover what roadblocks may be holding YOU back unknowingly!

Self-knowledge is an integral part of identity, or, more precisely, of self-concept. It is essential to know oneself and one's properties to develop a self-concept, regardless of whether the concept is inaccurate or flawed. Our sense of social and personal worth is largely determined by how we perceive ourselves relative to others. Typically, social comparisons take place on an upward or downward scale. During this video, Kain reinforces the danger of comparing yourself to others.

If so, you are welcome to apply to join the ‘Principles into Practice’ Discussion group.

Emotions are formed by how people interpret the outside world and how they experience it. The emotional experience is a reflection of what impacts the individual and how they interpret and represent these situations. Gaining awareness of yourself is the first step toward building confidence and self-esteem. Taking action to become aware of your ability to develop and grow is the first step. How we think determines how we feel. In this video, Kain discusses these topics in detail and discusses the intriguing notion of "emotional time travel."

Achieving progress in life means becoming wiser, more knowledgeable, responsible, consistent, stronger, more determined, and more virtuous versions of ourselves. People often face a crisis when confronted with the perception of a wide gap between their present status and where they want to be. Kain discusses this idea in depth in this video, and demonstrates how we can start making tangible progress towards becoming our ideal selves today.

According to the theory of Kubler Ross, the 'change curve' describes the emotional journey that people experience when dealing with change and transition. This journey consists of several stages that people go through, including shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Throughout the video, Kain refers to Kubler-Ross's life transition curve to explain the ongoing process of change in life, and how we need to adapt our behavior to it as the changes occur.

This video offers you a set of questions to ask yourself to help you think about the main ideas and lessons learned throughout this section.

'The unexamined life is not worth living' is a famous dictum uttered by Socrates at his trial for impiety and corrupting youth for which he was sentenced to death as described in Plato's Apology. Here, Kain translates some key teachings from the ancient philosophers and other significant figures who offered great insights to those seeking to grow in self-awareness and further develop themselves.

An individual's experience of life refers to the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical characteristics of their life. In some situations, we can gain greater clarity about ourselves and our circumstances by observing the situations we experience from a different perspective. This video examines how we can understand ourselves in various ways - Kain examines the mind, body, and spirit model as well as the human experiential model, taking time to explain each in order to help you better understand yourself.

It's true that some people in life are not ready or willing to grow and develop. The human heart (non-physical matter) can be likened to four different earth types. The state of our hearts will determine how receptive we are to true things. In this video, Kain shares the example of different soil types as representative of a person's readiness to learn and grow.

Many people limit themselves by categorizing themselves in an unnecessarily restrictive manner. As your self-perception changes and develops, the way in which you perceive yourself also changes. People often have a problem with their self-limiting labels that they use to categorize themselves generally. Human beings do not need to identify in terms of labels or broad categories (nor do they benefit from doing so). In the following video, Kain explores this idea in more detail, highlighting several terms that people use to define themselves.

Many people have a poor understanding of how the mind works. This leads to inefficiency and ineffectiveness in business, as well as a great deal of unnecessary stress and personal unhappiness. There is wisdom and logic built-in to the way the human mind works. When you understand this wisdom and logic, you uncover the mind's infinite possibility for insight and innovation.

Whatever our background, where we live, or what our goals might be, we all have one thing in common: a heritage. We each inherit a heritage, live out a heritage, and pass our heritage on to the other people who are involved in our lives. This isn't an option. In this video, Kain poses a series of questions that will help you consider your own story and your own relationship 'legacy' habits.

Your life story is the sum total of all your experiences that have led you to this point in your life. You should consider your life story to be one of the most powerful assets you have at your disposal. During this study, Kain introduces a homework assignment for students to consider their own life story in the form of their past, present, and future.

If you look at social media today, you find young and old people alike, coining new phrases and terminologies in a desperate bid to define their identity and categorise themselves. It’s often useful to understand that how people identify themselves will directly influence how they act, behave, and socially conduct themselves. Therefore, if one must self-identify, let’s ensure that this is done wisely.

Individuals' personalities are characterized by specific behaviors, cognitive processes, and emotional patterns determined by their upbringing and current social environment. Despite the fact that there is no generally accepted definition of personality, most theories focus on motivation and psychological interactions with the environment. The problem with psychological tests is that they categorize people into fixed categories, making people believe their personalities are set in stone. Kain introduces a classic personality model, based on Eysenck, which illustrates how dynamic human personality is.

According to psychology, self-awareness is often defined as the capacity to reflect on one's own experiences. By developing a sense of self, you are able to connect with your unique identity. As you turn your attention inward and evaluate your behavior based on your internal standards and values, you become self-conscious and become an objective judge of yourself. There are many exercises and activities you can do to develop self-awareness, from simple exercises to questions you can ask yourself. This video introduces one of those self-awareness exercises.

The feeling of not being good enough is experienced by many people and can be induced both by internal and external factors. Internal factors include our own beliefs about who we are and what we are good at as well as our own self-talk. We may tell ourselves that we are not good enough if we fail a test, are in a car accident, or lose a contest. It is very common for people to allow one incident to color the rest of their lives. Our discussion here will focus on the “good enough” principle.

In this video, Kain outlines a series of self-reflection questions that you can ask yourself to consider the main ideas and lessons you've learned throughout this section.

Several factors, such as our family, culture, colleagues, social norms, friends, etc. have influenced our minds and have determined what we consider to be true or false in life. In this video, Kain presents some intriguing ideas from Carl Rogers book, "On Becoming a Person", that depict what it means to be a fully functioning individual. Do not forget to bring a notepad!

It doesn't matter whether you believe you can or believe you cannot, either way you have already made up your mind. In the long run, your mindset will either serve you positively or undermine your decision-making abilities. Kain asks you a series of thought-provoking questions in this video to assist you in considering how flexible or how fixed your current mindset is.

How does our perception of ourselves and our abilities influence our attitudes and actions? Our perception of our knowledge and abilities influences not only the way we feel, but also whether we stick to good habits and develop new skills. A growth mindset is the belief that your intelligence and talents can be developed over time. If you possess a fixed mindset, you believe intelligence is fixed; as a result, if you are not good at something, you believe you will never become good at it. This video examines the differences between these two mindsets through a contrasting analysis.

The fixed mindset views characteristics like intelligence or talent as permanent traits. People spend their time documenting rather than developing these traits. In this video, Kain highlights some of the attributes of a fixed mindset so you can find any areas where your mindset might be problematic.

There is a notion that what we believe or how we feel is a choice. As the old saying goes, no one can get inside our heads nor damage us emotionally unless we allow them to. In this video, Kain unpacks a growth mindset's traits, allowing you to identify areas where you can hone your growth mindset.

One thing is to become aware of one's default mindset; another is to change it. Kain highlights the nature of the different mindsets we can operate within, as well as some of the costs these mindsets may entail. It only takes one change in thinking to change your experience. Our daily lives are filled with rash decisions without careful consideration of the consequences. This video will assist you in rethinking your decision-making processes - for the better!

Intuitive, paralyzing analysis, half-hearted, logical, informed, emotional, what is the common denominator among all these words and phrases? One thing they have in common is that they describe characteristics commonly associated with decision-making. When we choose to do one thing, we will sacrifice something else. This video offers a basis for sensible decision making.

Self-reflection is simply taking the time to evaluate your behaviours, thoughts, attitudes, motivations, and desires, and giving them serious consideration. It’s the process of diving into your thoughts, emotions and motivations and determining ‘why’ they all exist. In this video, Kain asks a series of questions to help you reflect on how you can begin making wiser and more informed decisions today.

The outcomes we get in life are a result of our decisions, whether we make wise decisions or emotionally-fuelled ones. In order to say 'no' to what we don't want, we must have a clear picture of what we do want. A trade-off arises where having more of one thing results in having less of another. In this discussion, Kain explores the trade-off between choosing ‘good’ things and ‘great’ things.

To have a strategy for setting goals in life is one thing, but we will always encounter obstacles and challenges on the way. In this video, Kain offers ten approaches to addressing everyday problems, challenges, hurdles and tensions (while also distinguishing between them all).

Personal growth is the process by which a person recognizes himself or herself and continually develops himself or herself to reach his or her full potential. Personal growth is an important part of a person's growth, maturity, success and happiness. Our journey through life will present us with problems, obstacles etc, which we can choose to face head-on or to be overwhelmed by. In this video, Kain walks through the stages we can all go through in our personal growth journey.

Whenever you seek to better yourself in any way – be it your temperament, your formal education, or your maturity, you are seeking personal growth. To help you think about the major ideas and lessons that you learned during this section, Kain presents a series of reflective questions. The course concludes with a few recommended readings and closing thoughts from the instructor.
