A brief overview of the IT Project Manager Interview course.

The Job Description & PM Areas of Focus

How to understand the job role you've applied to and ensuring that you can do the job.  You must be very honest with yourself.

Read more

General focus areas that interviewers usually look at when intervierviewing.

How to extract relevant news from the company you're interviewing for.

Reviewing the products and services that the company offers and why this makes the company successful.

It's not enough to know the company's competitors.  You also need to know why they are competitors.

A brief review of the company's finances can help reveal the financial stability of the company or if it's going through bad times.

What have you done in the past?  Be sure to be able to speak to this during the interview.  Please see the resource to the right of the screen in the Course Outline area.  This is a document that will help you brainstorm how your previous experience ties into what the employer is looking for.

An overview of one of the most popular methods to answer interview questions - the STAR method.  Please see the resource attached to the right where the course syllabus is.  In this document, we'll discuss how you can leverage the STAR method to generate answers to tough situational interview questions.

Review your resume and put yourself in the shoes of the interviewer.  What would you ask yourself?

The hiring manager will not be the only one to interview you.  You will also be interviewed by the Human Resources representative.  They will ask questions that are very different from the hiring manager so you need to be ready.

How to prepare for project management-related questions.

The interview is not only about the interviewer asking you questions.  You need to also interview them so that you can measure if you'd like to work there.

Typical resources to bring with you to the interview.

Don't try to act like someone else because you will only be putting pressure on yourself.

It's okay to go through pressure interviews.  It's NOT okay for the interviewer to disrespect you.  Here you will learn how to handle this situation.

Not all interviews are the same.  Here, we review the different types of interviews.

You must still communicate with the interviewer after the interview if you haven't heard from them.  This shows you have a strong interest in the position.

While at the interview site, take your time to absorb the surroundings.  Is this a place you'd be happy to work at?

We all sometimes make mistakes during an interview.  The important thing is that we learn from them for the next interview.

Before negotiating, you need to understand what value you have.

During the negotiation, there will be certain focus areas that need attention so you get the best deal possible.  Please leverage the Negotiation Document to the resources area to the right in the curriculum.

The job hunt can be a long laborious process so you need to stay positive and not allow your brain to become idle.
