This is just a quick lecture to introduce you to your instructor, Rick Stone.

We will cover each of the top 5 food storage crops, including how to grow them and some hints on preserving your garden harvest!

In this lecture we will cover why I think tomatoes are the most important crop any self reliant gardener should grow.  We will also cover some hints for growing a great crop and give you some options for preserving your harvest.

Green beans are easy to grow and offer a pretty heavy harvest for the amount of space they take up in your garden.  In this lecture we will talk about how to grow and preserve this popular garden goody!

If you really want to be come a self sufficient gardener the potatoes need to be on your list!  In fact 1/3 of your garden should be planted in potatoes if you really want to eat mostly from your garden.  In this lecture we will cover growing potatoes using the hilling method and also talk about some options for storing your potatoes for winter.

Winter squashes, for example banana squash, acorn squash and pumpkins, provide a long storing fresh veggie for you food storage.  In this lecture we will cover why you should include squash in your garden and the best way to store them.  (no processing require!!)
