Infrastructure as a Service, commonly referred to as IaaS, is a foundational layer of cloud computing that provides virtualized computing resources over the internet. Essentially, IaaS allows organizations to rent IT infrastructure—servers, storage, networking components, and operating systems—on a pay-as-you-go basis, rather than purchasing and managing their own physical hardware and data centers. This model offers a high degree of flexibility and control over your infrastructure, similar to on-premises solutions, but with the added benefits of cloud scalability and cost-efficiency.
