Network Interface Card (NIC) Teaming is a networking technology that allows multiple network interfaces to be grouped together to form a single logical interface. This can provide several benefits, including increased bandwidth, redundancy, and fault tolerance.

What are the Benefits of NIC Teaming?

NIC teaming can provide several benefits, including:

  • Increased bandwidth: By combining multiple network interfaces, NIC teaming can increase the overall bandwidth available to a server. This can be beneficial for applications that require high bandwidth, such as file servers and web servers.
  • Redundancy: NIC teaming can provide redundancy in case one of the network interfaces fails. If one interface fails, the other interfaces in the team will continue to function, ensuring that the server remains connected to the network.
  • Fault tolerance: NIC teaming can provide fault tolerance in case of a hardware failure. If one of the network interfaces in the team fails, the other interfaces in the team will continue to function, allowing the server to continue to operate without interruption.

How Does NIC Teaming Work?

NIC teaming works by using a software driver to manage the multiple network interfaces in the team. The driver creates a single logical interface that represents the team. When data is sent or received by the server, the driver distributes the traffic across the multiple network interfaces in the team.
