Spanish literature is a vast and diverse field of study that encompasses centuries of literary production. As it relates to Western literature, Spanish literature stretches from medieval prose and poetry to contemporary postmodern masterpieces, including such giants as Miguel de Cervantes, Gabriel García Márquez, and Federico García Lorca.
