Navigating the World of CMOS Technology

Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor, or CMOS (often pronounced "sea-moss"), is a cornerstone technology in the fabrication of integrated circuits (ICs). At its heart, CMOS technology utilizes pairs of p-type and n-type Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MOSFETs) to create logic functions. This complementary pairing is a key reason for one of CMOS's most significant advantages: low static power consumption. In essence, in a CMOS logic gate, one transistor of the pair is typically off while the other is on, drastically reducing power draw when the circuit is not actively switching. This efficiency has made CMOS the dominant technology for a vast array of modern electronic devices.
