A School Counselor is a professional who provides academic, career, and personal/social counseling services to students. They work with students individually and in groups, and collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to promote student success. School counselors typically work in elementary, middle, and high schools, but may also work in colleges and universities.

School counselors typically perform the following duties:
- Provide academic counseling to students, helping them to develop academic plans and goals
- Provide career counseling to students, helping them to explore career options and develop career plans
- Provide personal/social counseling to students, helping them to deal with personal and social issues
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to promote student success
- Develop and implement school counseling programs
- Stay up-to-date on educational and counseling best practices
