C’est ainsi que Charles Texier puis Archibald Henry Sayce vont mettre au jour les traces d’une civilisation anatolienne inconnue. Ils découvrirent le monument rupestre de Yazılıkaya et de nombreux vestiges dans la ville ancienne de Hattuša. Grâce au déchiffrement par Bedrich Hrozný des tablettes cunéiformes trouvées sur ce site, une civilisation disparue put être redécouverte : la civilisation hittite.

Mais qui sont ces Hittites, en quoi leur civilisation est-elle remarquable, quelles étaient leurs croyances et quels liens avaient-ils avec les autres royaumes de l’Antiquité ? Voici quelques-uns des sujets que ce MOOC « À la découverte de la civilisation hittite » va vous faire découvrir.

C’est une équipe internationale de chercheurs – historiens, philologues, linguistes et historiens de l'art – qui apportera son expertise pour animer ces séances. Lors des cinq épisodes de ce cours en ligne gratuit, seront abordés, entre autres sujets, les langues, l'histoire et l'iconographie de cet ancien royaume. Les cours seront associés à des exercices qui permettront à chacun d’évaluer les connaissances acquises peu à peu sur le sujet.

Ce MOOC s’inscrit dans le cadre de l'enseignement de langues anciennes à Sorbonne Université (ELASU). Chacun pourra y développer ses connaissances et découvrir un pan de l’Histoire qui est resté longtemps ignoré.

Ce MOOC comprend 17 films de 10 à 18 mn chacun pour découvrir la civilisation hittite. Cette série a été créée par Alice Mouton et Isabelle Prieto, avec la participation de Vincent Blanchard, Francesco Giannone, Amir Gilan, Laura Puértolas Rubio et Sylvie Vanséveren.

What you'll learn

Au 19e siècle, les Hittites étaient presque inconnus du monde savant. Lors de la première séance, nous verrons comment de grands scientifiques ont découvert la civilisation hittite et comment les textes relevant de cette civilisation ont été déchiffrés. En effet, l’Anatolie hittite a livré des milliers de témoignages écrits. Toute la richesse des langues et des écritures de ces témoignages sera décryptée lors de la deuxième séance. C’est aussi grâce à la mise au jour des tablettes hittites que l’histoire de ce puissant royaume pourra se dessiner peu à peu à nos yeux. La troisième séance sera ainsi consacrée aux faits marquants de cette histoire. À travers l’étude des textes hittites, on découvrira en outre que les messagers jouaient souvent le rôle d’espions lorsqu’ils étaient de passage à la Cour d’un roi étranger. Ce sera le point d’ancrage de la quatrième séance qui sera par ailleurs l’occasion d’enrichir notre exploration de l’histoire hittite. Enfin, lors de la cinquième séance, les différents témoignages archéologiques seront examinés pour leur iconographie. Cette dernière est très souvent de nature religieuse et nous renseignera donc, notamment, sur les divinités que vénéraient les Hittites.
