Some people like to learn the details first, other like to understand the big picture before getting into detail.

The 9 Mid-Class Consonants

Every language has vowels. But Thai has some very special vowels! Long Vowels and Short Vowels for example!

Now that you now some Consonants, I'll teach you 4 vowels first so that you can start using the language Right Away! Come on! Let's read some words!

This is definitely the weirdest letter in Thai. Is it really a letter?

The most dreaded part about learning Thai. Those Tones!!

But hey! They're really not that hard! And don't come with that stupid excuse "I'm tone deaf". You are not and neither is anybody. Let's learn about the wonders of this musical language!

In this lesson you'll find a sheet that will be very important to your study process.
Although it's empty now, it'll contain almost all information you need to be able to read Thai perfectly at the end of this course.

Quizzing the Thai High-Class Consonants

You're lucky! Syllables starting with High-Class Consonants use only 2 tone markers. Nice:)

How life and death are a part of this language!

Now that you learned 4 long vowels, we should balance things out a bit and learn some short vowels, don't you think?

Let's practice a bit!

Let's put all that valuable knowledge together and finish those tone rules. We're getting there!

Water Buffalo's and Snakes! Some dangerous animals in this lesson!

An elephant and a girl in this lesson.

Of mice and men.

Horses and Giants

How to make syllables starting with a low class consonant into rising tones and low tones.

The list might be long, but all these vowels are short.

Some Thai vowels aren't really long or short. They go by the rules of Long Vowels, but they sound rather short.

Why you can't say pzrewalski horse.

I know, I know, I said every syllable contains at least 1 vowel, but... don't worry.. I'll explain.

Just 4 words starting with a silent อ.
Just little examples, but they're very common and important words. So check this out.

Many English Speakers have problems distinguishing

  • บ ป พ
  • ด ต ท
  • ก ค
In this lesson you'll learn that you have been saying sounds that are very similar to all of these letters ever since you started talking English.
