How Microsoft Teams work and how it helps you organize and collaborate with your team.
One of the challenges when you start working remotley is that you may not have a home office. You might have to use your living room, bedroom, or other rooms that may not be ideal. Despite this, Microsoft Teams has recently made it possible to change the background image to make your background look how you want. (at least what options they give you). Custom images that you upload are not available as of now.
You can sign into Microsoft Teams via desktop (Windows, Mac, or Web) but also via mobile.
The Microsoft 365 Admin Center is your best friend if you are the owner/admin.
Teams are the base feature of Microsoft Teams. Best practice indicates that you want to start with a company-wide team as this has two distinct advantages (which I discuss).
The second team you create, and all additional Teams, are not organization or company-wide...they are specific or individual level teams.
Channels are features of the Teams that you create. They allow you to divide a Team (whether that team represents a department, or customer) into topics related to that team.
Once you have your Teams and Channels within those teams created, you want to get a good understanding of the options available at the teams and channel level.
The real magic happens inside of the individual channels. Here you will get to have conversations, meetings, and the ability to work on files with your colleagues.
Organizations will often need guests to have access to Teams for collaboration purposes. The guest may be a partner or consultant and it is vital that these non regular members of your team can easily be included as part of your Teams.
This lecture will give you an opportunity to test yourself because you will be asked to take certain steps/answer questions posed..and then compare to the instructor solution.
I show you how can work on a file with your colleagues at the same time.
You can send/forward emails to particular channels.
There are more options beyond the Teams and Channels.
The Calendar Icon allows you to schedule meetings for the future or have meetings right away. You can add people to a meeting, take notes, share your screen, and a lot more.
The Microsoft Planner is one of the more useful apps to use with Microsoft Teams. You can create tasks, assign tasks to employees, and check progress on the tasks..among many other options.
Once you create a task, there are many task features/options that allow you to track progress, add attachments, and a lot more.
In this lecture, we will add a tab of our Plan to one of our Team channels inside of the Teams Desktop.
When you are using the web version of Teams, this is a somewhat common problem people run into.
Some individuals have an issue during meetings where their screen turns all black or their computer crashes. Here is the fix.
Teams, at this time, does not have a great solution where you need to give multiple managers/supervisors the option to control the schedule. The solution at this time is to make them owners.
Some people confuse leaving a call and ending the meeting.
