university of alberta

I am in the US Navy and thanks to these paleontology courses presented by University of Alberta, I am now looking to continue forward with a career into Paleontology and pursue this interest that has been there since childhood.

Paleontology: Theropod Dinosaurs and the origins of Birds is only one of the courses from the University of Alberta I would recommend.

great course, as all the courses of the University of Alberta.

Since retiring I have been pursuing a long dormant passion for palaeontology and have worked on dinosaur projects in Outback Australia and have studied formal units in Palaeontology through the University of New England, Australia, and now this course through the University of Alberta!

I look forward to doing another course via Coursera through the University of Alberta!

The presenter, Scott Persons, a PhD student at the time if I am not mistaken, is great, though he is very surprisingly not credited on the homepage of the course, which is a shame (especially given that he has also written his scripts among other things...) I have attended all four paleontology courses from the University of Alberta and this is the one I preferred.

Paleontology courses from The University of Alberta have always been excellent.

Another brilliant course from the University of Alberta.

Thanks to all University of Alberta's team that made this course possible.

Thank you University of Alberta & Coursera.

Awesome course =) The course was an extensive and enjoyable overview of theropod dinosaurs and birds, thanks to the University of Alberta for making it!

Many thanksJim Morris nice With Theropod Dinosaurs and the Origin of Birds MOOC I finally completed all Paleo Online Courses offered by University of Alberta.

It is also true to say that all University of Alberta MOOCs, as usual, provided first class lecture notes.

This is my second course by University of Alberta (the first one was Dinosaurs 101) and it's great again.

very interesting

Very Interesting and easy to follow.

Moreover, the historical part of the course, on the debate on the origin of dinosaurs, is very interesting and, as an added bonus, gives an idea of what the state of the field is today.

I love Paleontology and this course was very interesting It was a fantastic course, I learned a lot!

I congrat Scott Pearsons and Dr. Phillip Currie for their amazing course, funny and very interesting exposures complemented with very well documented resources to go back and to read once again the lessons of this course.

Very interesting and enjoyable!

It is very interesting, and can be easily understood.

I enjoyed all Paleo MOOCs given their very interesting content and outstanding presentation, but I must say that Early Vertebrate Evolution was far the best one, in my opinion.

Very interesting and insightful course.

Thank you reat course really enjoyed it and learned a lot :D 10/10 This is truly a very interesting and informative course on the origin of birds!

Very interesting course, kept me involved and was very interactive.

recommend this course

It was very informative, I love the way they add the questions into the videos.I recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn more about birds and their evolution.

I truly recommend this course to anyone wishing to learn about evolution of birds.

Persons can get a bit out of control with the theatrical gestures and facial expressions but I would recommend this course.

I'd recommend this course anytime, and I'd recommend you to take the whole paleontology series, including Dino 101, since this is one of the best things the Internet can offer.

dino 101

After completing Dino 101: Dinosaur Paleobiology, I wanted more!!!

F My two favourite courses on coursera so far: the Dino 101 and the Theropod Dinos and the Origin of Birds :) thank you for a very thorough course - I've learned a lot!

Loved the Dino 101 class and I was excited to see this in depth look at theropods.

One of the first big books I remember reading was about dinosaurs and their world: much of the information changed with further discoveries, but the book gave me such a sense of wonder at the big "lizards" that roamed the earth!I found this course fascinating, especially since it follows on Dino 101.

As good as Dino 101...just too short!

The same way Dino 101 is certainly in the top three of all MOOCs I have ever taken, if not the best, these courses seem like worthy sequels.

This course continues Dino 101 in more detail, focusing on Theropoda dinosaurs, and describing their evolution into birds we know today.

I have always been amazed by the quality of production of Dino 101, and this continues the great trend of engaging videos and AMAZING notes - which are like small encyclopedias.

well presented

very interesting course with lots of fun quizzes and puzzles An excellent course......so well presented, so very exciting!

Knowledgeable and well presented.

My first thoughts were learning about bird evolution might need seem all that interesting but because it all starts with the dinosaurs we are somewhat familiar with, this approach makes it highly stimulating.Well spoken and well presented.

It is very well presented and makes relatable the anatomical evolutionary paths taken by various dinosaurs to the final incredible populations of birds we see today.
