This is a great course for all levels of individuals who are interested in learning more about how to use minimalist interior design to improve their homes and their lives.

Join me for a journey into the beautiful world of minimalist interior design.

I would start with "How to Design a Room in 10 Easy Steps" because most of my other courses are in-depth classes of the concepts touched on in this 10 step class.  Following the 10 Step Course, I suggest moving on to "How to Use Color Like a Pro", followed by "How to Work with Interior Design Styles Like a Pro", then "How to Use Lighting Design to Transform your Home", and finally "Design is in the Details".

  • My other five courses, "How to Use Minimalist Interior Design to Live your Best Life",  "Use Eco-friendly, Sustainable Design to Improve Your Life", "How to Design Your Dream Kitchen", "How to Design Your Dream Bathroom", and "Everything Small Home Design" are all stand alone classes on specialty topics within interior design, and therefore, can be taken in any order.

  • Please be aware that this course, or any of my courses, is not intended to provide all of the knowledge needed to become a professional interior designer.  As with any professional field, there is a significant amount of education and/or experience that is needed to achieve competency in this field.  My intention with these courses is to provide some solid foundational knowledge to assist either those individuals interested in "DIY" interior design to work on their own projects more effectively, or to provide supplemental education to both interior design students and professionals.

What is Minimalist Interior Design Anyway?

Minimalist can be a far cry for most of us who live in a maximalist world.  Is it worth it?  In this lecture, I'll explain why I think this design/life style is worth serious consideration.

Many people think that minimalist interior design is synonymous with contemporary interior design. Yes, they do have similarities, but minimalism is much broader and more inclusive than a single interior design style.  Learn why in this brief lecture.

In this lecture, I will share with you what characteristics/principles make minimalist interior design, well, minimalist interior design.

This is a short, fun activity that will help you to practice what you've learned so far by providing you the opportunity to identify the various minimalist principles in 3 different interior designs.

Let's Get Started: The Art of Decluttering

In this short lecture, I'll get you started on your minimalist interior design journey by sharing some important questions that you should ask yourself before you begin.

There are so many decluttering techniques available online today.  My goal is to help you narrow down those choices by sharing with you my and my client's tried and true techniques for decluttering your home.

In this lecture, I will share with you my favorite approaches for how to effectively manage your collections and sentimental items, if a minimalist home is truly your goal.

In this easy to digest lecture, I'll talk about the importance, and more importantly, the methods, to ensure that everything in your home has its place.

In this lecture, I will get you started on completing your own minimalist interior design plan, which is the main activity in this course.

Now Let’s Design your Minimalist Dream Home!

In this lecture, I'll teach you how to create a calming, restful color scheme for your home.

This is definitely one of the most important lectures of the course. . .determining your true furniture essentials is a key cornerstone for any minimalist design, and in this lecture, I will share with you exactly what each room should include to be perfectly functional.

In this lecture, you will continue working on your minimalist interior design plan, specifically identifying your ideal color scheme and furniture essentials.

In this lecture, learn how to create the ideal focal point for your room, a must have for any minimalist interior design.

Learn how to incorporate negative space into your interior design, another must have when it comes to designing the ideal minimalist space.

Continuing on with your design plan, you will identify the focal point and negative space for your room.

In this lecture, I'll help you to identify the ideal finishes and furnishings for your minimalist space, including flooring, wall art, lighting, window coverings, greenery and accessories.

Do you feel that achieving harmony and balance is more difficult to achieve in a minimalist room?  Worry, no more!  In this lecture, I will break it all down for you so you, too, can do this on your own.

In the final activity of the course, you will complete your minimalist design plan by making selections in the area of flooring, artwork, lighting, window coverings, greenery, and accessories.

    Conclusion
Final Conclusion: Thank you for Joining Me on this Minimalist Journey!

In one of the final lectures of this course, I'll share with you some of my favorite minimalist resources that can help you continue on your minimalist journey.
