This course was created to assist those who are interested in working in case management at a high school level (Community Health Workers) and bachelor/master's level. The content was created to reassure the students that although you may see case manager positions available in the workforce for RN/LPN professionals; it is also a profession for others. Bachelors/Master level social work, psychology, or counseling graduates are eligible to work with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities.

*This course also applies to various types of case management. If you are preparing for a job/career in mental health case management, HIV/AIDS, or children and pregnant women case management, this course will assist you with foundation information to put you on a path to success. Take our 2-hour course to get better acquainted with work-related norms to assist your clients with increasing their quality of life.
*This training is a part of the Texas Community Health Worker CEU program. AEIC Case Management LLC is a certified instructor location.
This course is divided into two courses and will take approximately 4-5 hours and supplemental text is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The curriculum is based on the supplemental text and it follows the table of contents.
Additional Case Scenarios Are Not Available in the Supplemental Text.

After completing Lecture 2 (Chapter 1) students will learn about what personal attributes to have before starting their career as a case manager and what educational/work history will increase your chances of being hired.
After completing Lecture 3 (Chapter 2) students will learn various ways to understand the population you will be serving. In this chapter we will discuss familiarizing yourself with the client, diagnosis, their independence, and caregiver. We will also discuss tips for working with caregivers and preparing them to deal with their aging loved ones.
In Lecture 4 (Chapter 3) we will discuss the beginning process for picking up where the last case manager left off. We will discuss their desk which now has become your mess, paperwork, creating a system, deadlines, and policy and procedure with your new clients. In this lecture I discuss my secret to success with case management.
In Lecture 5 (Chapter 4) we will discuss expecting the unexpected and how to always expect changes within case management. You can experience changes within the clients on your caseload, agency, and government/federal funding.
In Lecture 6 (Chapter 5) you will learn about networking for your client. We will discuss the Freedom of Choice, surrounding resources, online resources, activity notifications, and resources for the client's caregiver. This lecture helps you understand the importance of engaging in professional socializing for the betterment of you client.
In Lecture 7 (Chapter 6) we will discuss staying focus within the office setting. Anyone can be easily distracted to avoid doing their job. We will talk about socializing in the office and bad socializing skills to avoid while being in public places.
In Lecture 8 (Chapter 7) we are at the mid point of the supplemental text. In this chapter we will discuss important points that were expressed during the first 6 lectures.
Lecture 9 (Not Included In the Supplemental Text) will give you a chance to understand the reason to continue to Course 2. Course 2 covers how you can apply the information from Course 1 and increase your application skills through case scenarios.
This quiz is to assess your knowledge about Course 1. All questions are related to information provided during the course. This quiz is also to prepare you for the next course. Course 2 is where we provide more case scenarios and application to everything we discussed in Course 1.
