Data Visualization and Communication with Tableau

This course is a part of Excel to MySQL: Analytic Techniques for Business, a 5-course Specialization series from Coursera.

One of the skills that characterizes great business data analysts is the ability to communicate practical implications of quantitative analyses to any kind of audience member. Even the most sophisticated statistical analyses are not useful to a business if they do not lead to actionable advice, or if the answers to those business questions are not conveyed in a way that non-technical people can understand. In this course you will learn how to become a master at communicating business-relevant implications of data analyses. By the end, you will know how to structure your data analysis projects to ensure the fruits of your hard labor yield results for your stakeholders. You will also know how to streamline your analyses and highlight their implications efficiently using visualizations in Tableau, the most popular visualization program in the business world. Using other Tableau features, you will be able to make effective visualizations that harness the human brain’s innate perceptual and cognitive tendencies to convey conclusions directly and clearly. Finally, you will be practiced in designing and persuasively presenting business “data stories” that use these visualizations, capitalizing on business-tested methods and design principles.

data analysis in 14 reviews

It's one of the best 'Data Analysis' I've come across online - and you can take it for free!

it's very good for me, before this class I know nothing about data analysis.

awesome tool, teaches you how to think like a data scientist Good course Excellent course, well presented Good JobLuca I really enjoy this Course the Explanations and Utilization of Tableau are the best, I really recomend this to anyone interest in Data Analysis or that need to work with a lot of data in their daily activities.

Best course from Duke's data analysis specialisation.

I felt that the videos and supplemental information provided valuable instruction on data analysis in the Tableau software and the communication of the results.

This course has been fantastic for getting a foundation in understanding data analysis and the use of Tableau!

This is an excellent class that covers basic data analysis and visualization with Tableau, but more importantly covers how to approach data analysis and how to present the results of a data analysis to a business audience (i.e., management executives).

final project in 12 reviews

The exercises and final project are a little difficult.

The final project is interesting and needs some commitment that make this course a valuable one to take!

The final project is time and effort demanding but it is a wonderful chance to utilise what you have learned during the course.

Outside of quizzes which are graded by computers, your "practice" assignments (which aren't practice because you can't check your answers before a test, super awesome when you can't really ask for help), final project and forum questions are graded or answered by other students.

very useful, especially the final project.

Every lecture material (videos/exercises/final project) is carefully crafted to optimize student's learning experience.

Be sure to submit the final project days before the deadline.

too much in 6 reviews

Although Week 1 and Week 4 are not too much about Tableau, Week 2 and Week 3 are really helpful.

Really interesting even if a little complex at times A really insightful course on visuali New user to Tableau - I found there to be too much information in both weeks 2 and 3 to absorb completely, which made the practice exams very time consuming.

Maybe I am expecting too much from an online learning platform?

Its a good course, but I feel too much details in week 3 course content.

Great course to get an introduction to Tableau. The downside for me was that some videos were rushed with as they had too much content, and quizzes could be much better, I found the questions not really up-to-par with the course content.
