Learning Activities & Assessment
Effective online education requires activities and assessments to be designed specifically for online learners in an online environment. This course will cover backward design, assessments, and course interactions such as discussion boards and interactive learning. You will learn how to:
Apply best practices to teaching online courses.
Identify technologies that can be used in teaching.
Plan a learning module using the Backward Design methodology.
Create effective learning activities and assessments in order to successfully assess student mastery of the program outcomes and objectives.
Define specific, relevant, and assessable learning outcomes as well as key course topics
What you'll learn
- Identify the reasons for designing a course backwards from the learning objectives.
- Explain how to design a course using the Backward Design model.
- Create the Desired Results plan for a course or training.
- Describe the different types of assessments.
- Select the appropriate assessments for their objectives.
- Create rubrics for assessments.
- Describe the difference between feed-back and feed-forward.
- Provide learners with voice and screencast feedback.
- Apply different assessment methods in their teaching.
- State the three elements of presence in the Community of Inquiry model.
- Describe ways to create student-to-content interactions.
- Create discussion questions for your courses.
- Foster peer feedback and group projects in your classes.
