Sexual harassment is a type of sexual misconduct that involves unwelcome or unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature. It can occur in a variety of settings, including the workplace, school, or home. Sexual harassment can have a negative impact on the victim's physical and mental health, as well as their work or school performance. It can also create a hostile environment for others who witness or are aware of the harassment.
What are the different types of sexual harassment?
There are two main types of sexual harassment: quid pro quo and hostile work environment. Quid pro quo harassment occurs when someone makes a job benefit or opportunity contingent on sexual favors. Hostile work environment harassment occurs when the conduct creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment for the victim. This type of harassment can include unwelcome sexual jokes, comments, or advances, as well as physical or verbal abuse.
