Steel is a versatile material used in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and packaging. It is strong and durable and can be easily formed into a variety of shapes. Manufacturers can alloy steel with other elements to create specific properties for different industrial applications.
What is Steel?
Steel is primarily iron that contains a certain carbon content. Most types of steel contain between 0.05% to 2.1% carbon. However, some types of steel may have a higher or lower carbon content. Steel also includes small amounts of manganese, sulfur, silicon, and sometimes other elements.
Iron is a naturally occurring element, but steel is not; steel is an alloy, a mixture of elements.
