Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Excel

Excel is one of the most widely used solutions for analyzing and visualizing data. It now includes tools that enable the analysis of more data, with improved visualizations and more sophisticated business logics. In this data science course, you will get an introduction to the latest versions of these new tools in Excel 2016 from an expert on the Excel Product Team at Microsoft.

Learn how to import data from different sources, create mashups between data sources, and prepare data for analysis. After preparing the data, find out how business calculations can be expressed using the DAX calculation engine. See how the data can be visualized and shared to the Power BI cloud service, after which it can be used in dashboards, queried using plain English sentences, and even consumed on mobile devices.

Do you feel that the contents of this course is a bit too advanced for you and you need to fill some gaps in your Excel knowledge? Do you need a better understanding of how pivot tables, pivot charts and slicers work together, and help in creating dashboards? If so, check out DAT205x: Introduction to Data Analysis using Excel.

The course is amazing, well presented and with really good content, the forums are very helpful and... Wow, If you are into data analysis, this is for you!

I've joined in this course as a continuation to the "Introduction to Data Analysis using Excel.

The course is excellent I really enjoyed it and was very helpful as a first approximation to data analysis, however in some point the files were very repetitive and the same working escenario over the entire course tends to tire a little and lacks of profundity in some aspects, so in my case, I would like to go deeper in the topic, and see different types of data or enterprises involved.

Was very interesting specially the DAX functions in the Excel Data Model was new for me I had difficult at the start but with the practice i understand better how it works, and simplify very much the import of data from XML and others.. when I started this course ai was a novice, but after attending this course I got confidence about this subject and wants to learn more about data analysis.

debes tener ciertos conocimientos de excel por lo menos haber tomado el DAT205x Introduction to Data Analysis using Excel My knowledge of PowerPivot, Pivot tables/ Charts has increased in an exponential way.

Very complete, I went deeper in data analysis and visualization.

If not, maybe I would recommend taking one introduction course before (for example, Data Analysis; Take it to MAX().

It has helped me improve my skills in the use of Excel Data Analysis.

I will now prefer to use Excel for my data analysis than SPSS I am not an Excel expert and I am taking a few courses to learn how to use it.

The course focuses on getting students up to speed with new features and techniques offered in Excel 2016, such as the Excel data model, queries, DAX (a syntax of defining functions) and Power BI, an online productivity service that integrates with Excel.

I loved the course I find it really useful and would be delighted on taking the power bi course.

But it would be better if the content covered DAX language, Cube functions and Power BI in more details.

Good for anyone who wants to present their data in a cleaner and clearer format. This course challenges you to think before you do. You get a lot of good information and a lot of opportunities to try things yourself in Excel. I would especially recommend to someone who does analysis regularly and someone with at least some experience using Excel since the course does not cover basics.

Guest says:

This course covers everything from pivot tables and charts to data models and visualization and it's one of the only MOOCs I've taken that's given me a noticeable boost in my day-to-day job. Needless to say, I strongly recommend this course! I'm old hat so I'm still on Excel 2013. Ideally you have the 2016 version, but you can definitely get away using some add-ins (easy to install).

Guest says:
