Ball mastery is a huge aspect of academy coaching here in the UK, providing the foundations for player development. It is our passion to help players from all over the world take more touches on the ball, with detailed advice and instruction, improving technical ability for players no matter where they are in the world.
In my time as a technical football coach, specialising in one to one and small group training I have worked with international level and academy players. Even the elite have a great desire to improve their close control, skill and technique with the ball and this programme will help you with just that.
Become faster and sharper on the ball and improve both feet with this four week training programme that can take your game to the next level.
Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard.
In this session we focus on taking plenty of touches with the ball, using both feet. We focus on close control and manipulating the ball with all parts of the foot.
As we progress through the exercises the techniques will become more developed, so take it at your own speed and focus on the quality first, and then the speed.
For our second session this week we focus on continuing the development of both feet, taking plenty of touches on the ball and increasing the technical quality with ball mastery and individual exercises.
In this session we are now including turning, developing the ability to turn quickly, with both feet, while increasing the speed and quality of our control.
Use these 5 introduction techniques to help you practise in your own time. A short time each day and you'll greatly improve your ability on the ball.
Our first session of Week 2, focusing on the use of ball mastery and turning combinations. We're beginning to progress our technical ability with some more advanced techniques, with transitions to specific turning skills.
We will progress with our turning techniques, increasing speed and intensity while practising in smaller spaces and areas. The aim is to ensure that the player develops their skills on the ball while improving control at a high intensity.
In this session we focus on developing the ability to be well balanced, helping players be comfortable on the ball, turning to the left and right side, equally comfortably.
5 additional Ball Mastery exercises to develop your close control, progressing from the last 5 introduction to Ball Mastery exercises.
Top players have the ability to move the ball quickly but also get their opponent off balance with quick body movements and feints. Develop body feints and you will begin to master the ball.
Progressing from the last session, we develop and improve the use of body feints, dropping the shoulder to both the left and right side of the body.
Including these drop of the shoulder and body feints within the use of ball mastery while increasing the speed and intensity of the session.
5 advanced techniques. These are more complicated and difficult, however, with consistent practice you will be able to improve the technique and increase the speed of the movements with the ball.
Developing the other foot is hugely important. This week the focus is about becoming both footed, developing the use of the other foot with close control and ball mastery.
Developing Ball Mastery combinations with both feet, improving the technique and the touch on the ball.
As a progression, we include dribbling and look to increase the speed on the ball, developing quality and confidence with the ball on our other foot.
