Dr. Eric Rasmussen takes you through the efforts being taken both in the US and Internationally to combat the spread of the virus. Dr. Eric Rasmussen has been a board-certified internal medicine physician for roughly thirty years. After Stanford medical school, he entered the US Navy and deployed to Bosnia three times, Afghanistan twice, and Iraq for eight months at the onset of that war. He later became both Fleet Surgeon for the US Navy’s Third Fleet and the Chairman of an Academic Department of Medicine in Seattle. He also spent nine years as a Principal Investigator with DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, before retiring from the Navy and becoming the founding CEO of the TED Prize awarded to Larry Brilliant at Google.org to improve global infectious disease outbreak detection. He now leads an international disaster response team for the Roddenberry Foundation (supported by the Star Trek franchise) and is the CEO of IHS, a multi-national consulting group specializing in the humanitarian sciences.
