An Introduction to the World of Poetry

Poetry, at its core, is a form of literary art that uses the aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language—such as sound symbolism, phonaesthetics, and meter—to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, prosaic ostensible meaning. It is an art form that has existed for millennia, evolving alongside human civilization and reflecting its diverse cultures and historical periods.
