Self-Defense Overview

There are many ranges to combat and what you do or how you act in those ranges truly can determine the outcome of the fight. Learn to understand the "bubble principle". This is one of the MOST important concepts in self-defense and street fighting. Understanding it now only will change the way you fight, but also deal with the legal ramifications after a fight.

Awareness is the key in self-defense and reality combat. You do NOT want to get caught off guard. Many, many, MANY street attacks are all surprise attacks, sucker punches OR the victim did not listen to their natural fear warnings; which caused them to not be prepared to fight.

In this video you'll learn how to talk to a potential threat, where to put your hands during this conversation, and how to react when it goes bad.

The Crash Technique is the most essential technique that you need to defend and escape against most common attacks; but can also be used as an offensive move and fight ended.

The Crash Technique is very effective when you're being attacked or when the fight is ON. But what about when someone hasn't attacked you yet, but you KNOW it's coming. They have "broken your bubble" (Section 1, Lecture 2) and you legitimately fear for your safety. This is where you can use the crash technique as a preemptive strike to finish the fight, escape or employ other tactics to finish the fight.

Combining the Crash Technique with the concept of a frame truly takes the position and the control-ability of your opponent to the next level. “Framing” an opponent makes it extremely difficult for them to be able to re-engage in a fight.

This is also very useful for anyone who is a police officer, corrections officer, or security professional. It allows to you control your attacker, but gives you the power of control over their actions.

The unique principle of the crash technique is the ability for it to be used offensively. In one of the systems I train / teach: Defence Labs - DNA Fight System; we use an "expanded" version of the Crash Technique. The concepts, training, and effectiveness of Defence Labs (www.defencelab.com) are truly incredible. This technique is just a "taste" of what DL teaches.

Learn how to flow into a variety of strikes from the crash technique opening. This is the beauty of the crash technique, it allows you to flow into a variety of attacks and stay safe, but end the fight.

The Jam technique is the another evolution of entering into combat. It's similar to the crash technique, but a little more offensive in nature. Learn the basics of the jam technique here. We expand upon the Jam Technique greatly in our Warrior Combatives Fundamentals and Level 1 Courses.

Horizontal Elbows Strikes are a necessary weapon that you need in your self-defense, street fighting and close quarters combat. This particular elbow strike is like a "slash". These cut and destroy their target. They're very effective in close range combat. In this video I'll show you how to train them with focus mitts.

Elbow strikes are one of the devastating striking tools at your disposal. They're brutal and "smashing" in nature. The cause tremendous damage and are an absolute necessary in close quarters combat.

Knee strikes and Elbow Strikes should be your primary striking weapons in close quarters combat. Knee strikes are devastatingly effective and under utilized in real combat situations. Learn to use and train knee strikes effectively to employ them in real self-defense situations

This is one of my favorite techniques for entering into close quarters combat range. The technique and combat flow itself is all based upon instinct. Train your body and instincts to work together to make this technique work for you. In ALL of our Warrior Combatives Courses we use this technique or variations of this technique to end the fight or setup other attacks.

I’m always trying to teach you instinctual responses to fighting situations. In another entrance technique, we went to an overhook control. The reason being is that the way my body “fit” with my opponent lends itself to an overhook. But, what happens when I’m facing a bigger or taller attacker and the overhook is not “natural”. This is where we employ underhook control.

These 3 techniques will all teach you how to get use the crash technique to take a very dominant position and control your opponents back. Having the back is basically "game over" for your opponent. It's almost TOO easy to finish the fight from this position. Use these techniques to get there and I'll show you how to finish from the back position in later segments.

Use the Jam Technique to setup a devastating elbow strike and then employ overhook control. The combat flow of these techniques is VERY effective and very instinctual. Learn it, develop it, use it.

The Osoto Gari or Outside Leg Reap is one of the most common, effective, but many times taught wrong. Learn the concepts, technique and principle of how to make this technique work for you.

Learn how to combine the Crash Technique - Elbow Strikes and the Outside Leg Reap to defend against a punch or other attacks.

This video teaches you how to defend against a punch with the Jam technique. This particular technique doesn't have to be used off a punch, it can be used against a variety of different attacks and grabs. From the Jam you can setup an Outside Leg Reap Takedown and finish.

Your #1 Job when you're on the ground is GET BACK TO YOUR FEET!

The technical stand-up is all about getting back to your feet when you're pinned underneath an attacker.

This technique is so effective that I use it against High-Level Professional Fighters on daily basis.

Sweeping is the art of throwing someone on the ground. Basically when you're in the worst position to be in on the ground (your back) this technique series teaches you how to reverse the situation and become Dominant.
