يُعتبر مفهوم الإدارة الرشيقة (Lean Management) من المفاهيم الحديثة في الإدارة، والذي بدأ تطبيقه في شركة "تويوتا" في اليابان، وقد سُمي مفهوم الإدارة الرشيقة بهذا الاسم لأنه يهدف إلى سرعة استجابة المؤسسة في تعديل أسلوب العمل بطريقةٍ انسيابيةٍ تلبي احتياجات العملاء وتتناسب مع متطلبات التغيير من خلال الحد من الهدر في العمليات، وبالتالي تحقيق رضا العملاء وزيادة المبيعات، من خلال ما سبق يمكن أن نستنتج بأن الهدف الرئيسي من تطبيق الإدارة الرشيقة هو التحسين المستمر في مجالات العمل كافة.
