En la etapa de Control se introduce el Control Estadístico de Procesos como una herramienta para monitorear el desempeño de un sistema para detectar distintos patrones que pueden provocar no conformidades, antes de que el sistema comience a generar artículos defectuosos. Como herramientas de manufactura esbelta se presentan el Poka Yoke para evitar cometer errores y la técnica de reporte A3 para solucionar problemas.

Los objetivos del curso son los siguientes:

Análisis de regresión múltiple
La regresión lineal múltiple y polinomial nos permite modelar un sistema, como un proceso productivo, a partir de la medición de múltiples factores. Lo que se busca en el modelo es poder definir cuáles factores son relevantes y cuáles no, estableciendo un modelo matemático que permita predecir el comportamiento del sistema, medido mediante una variable dependiente Y, a partir del comportamiento de múltiples variables independientes Xs.

Control estadístico de proceso
El control estadístico de proceso nos permite monitorear el error aleatorio. Cuando el proceso se encuentra bajo control, el error aleatorio se comporta de manera normal en torno a la media de la variable de proceso que estamos monitoreando con una desviación estándar determinado. Cuando alguna de las múltiples variables que conforman el error aleatorio comienza a tomar “protagonismo”, desgaste de un herramental, cambio en la formulación, cansancio de un operador, etc., se podrán observar patrones identificables que pueden alertar sobre la pérdida de control en el proceso.
Herramientas de estabilidad
Un sistema Lean de pull tiene el propósito de crear un flujo de trabajo y el trabajo se “jala” solo si existe una demanda. Esencialmente, el propósito de implementar un sistema pull es construir productos basándose en la demanda real y no en pronósticos. Al hacerlo, la empresa puede enfocarse en eliminar las actividades de desperdicio del proceso de producción. Como resultado, se pueden optimizar los recursos y reducir la probabilidad de exceso de inventario. Además, aplicar un sistema pull permitirá entregar el trabajo justo a tiempo. "Justo-a-tiempo" es un modelo de producción en donde los entregables se producen para satisfacer las demandas reales y evitar el exceso de inventario y las estrategias de “empuje”.
Herramientas de Solución y control
La etapa Control del ciclo DMAIC tiene dos propósitos. El primero es determinar si la implementación de las soluciones está siendo efectiva para abordar el problema que dio origen al proyecto. Para esto se deben realizar nuevas mediciones y análisis de las variables críticas de calidad y contrastarlas con los valores iniciales antes de implementar la mejora. Si el proyecto ha sido exitoso se observarán mejoras en grados suficientes, lo que nos permitirá afirmar que se han cumplido los objetivos propuestos inicialmente.
