An Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) is a problem-solving approach to decision-making that integrates the best available scientific evidence with a practitioner's expertise and a client's or patient's unique values and circumstances. Essentially, EBP guides professionals in making sound judgments by moving away from decisions based solely on tradition, intuition, or unsystematic personal experience, and instead, anchoring them in well-researched findings. This approach is not about a rigid, one-size-fits-all application of research, but rather a thoughtful synthesis of different forms of knowledge to achieve optimal outcomes.
