Verbs are the powerhouse of language, the words that make things happen in our sentences. At a fundamental level, a verb expresses an action, an occurrence, or a state of being. Think of "run," "happen," or "exist"—these are all verbs. They are so crucial, in fact, that a sentence cannot exist without one. Even the simplest command, like "Stop!", is a complete sentence because the verb itself carries the full meaning, with the subject ("you") understood.
